Preamble: Indian industry is now realizing that design and product offerings play a very important role in countering the stiff competition it faces from the scores of foreign brands and services that are entering India. Companies are now focusing on the design element and therefore focusing on recruiting designers who need to understand not only the design angle, but also how this angle fits in with the technical and commercial aspects of business.

Quality design education in India is imperative today. Indian students have now begun to consider design as a serious career. Design in India is alive and thriving – you can see it in the bolder designs for sleeker packaging for products, design aesthetics of those consumers buying expensive luxury products down to the rush of every major multinational company of repute to setup design Centres in India (Nokia, Intel, Apple, etc).

Even top Indian IT cos like Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro now rely on design specialists to script pitch to clients as they feel their employees lack creativity.
